UTM Builder (Campaign URL Builder)
Build UTM-tagged campaign URLs to track traffic in Google Analytics.
About the UTM Builder
Create trackable campaign links in seconds. Enter your website URL and campaign details and the UTM builder adds utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and optional utm_term, utm_content and utm_id parameters — so Google Analytics 4 shows exactly which post, email or ad brought each visitor.
Existing query parameters and #anchors in your URL are kept, spaces become underscores, and values can be lowercased automatically to keep your reports tidy.
How to use the UTM Builder
- 1Paste the page URL you want to promote.
- 2Pick a preset or enter the source, medium and campaign name.
- 3Add term, content or ID if you need more detail.
- 4Copy the tagged URL and use it in your post, email or ad.
What each UTM parameter means
UTM parameters are tags added to the end of a URL:
- utm_source — where the traffic comes from (google, facebook, newsletter).
- utm_medium — the marketing channel (cpc, social, email, referral).
- utm_campaign — the campaign name (summer_sale, product_launch).
- utm_term — paid search keywords.
- utm_content — which ad or link was clicked, useful for A/B tests.
- utm_id — a campaign ID, used when importing cost data into GA4.
UTM best practices
Consistent tagging keeps reports clean:
- Always use lowercase — analytics treats “Facebook” and “facebook” as different sources.
- Keep a shared naming convention in a spreadsheet.
- Never put UTMs on internal links within your own site; they overwrite the visitor’s original source.
- Shorten long tagged URLs for social posts if they look messy.

Do UTM parameters affect SEO?
No, they don’t affect rankings. Just avoid using them on internal links, and make sure your pages have a canonical tag so tagged URLs aren’t treated as duplicates.
