Favicon Generator
Create favicon.ico, Apple touch and Android icons from one image.
About the Favicon Generator
Turn a logo into a complete favicon set in one step. Upload a square image and the generator creates a multi-size favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px), PNG favicons, a 180×180 Apple touch icon and 192×192 and 512×512 Android/PWA icons — plus the HTML tags and web manifest code to install them.
Add padding or a solid background so your icon stays readable on dark browser tabs and phone home screens. Everything is generated in your browser, so your logo isn’t uploaded anywhere.
How to use the Favicon Generator
- 1Upload a square image — ideally a PNG of at least 512×512 px.
- 2Adjust the padding and background color if needed.
- 3Download favicon.ico and the PNG icons.
- 4Upload the files to your site’s root folder and paste the HTML into your <head>.
Which favicon sizes do you need?
A modern favicon set covers every browser and device:
- favicon.ico (16, 32, 48 px) — used for browser tabs and bookmarks, and requested automatically at /favicon.ico.
- 32×32 and 16×16 PNG — crisp tab icons in modern browsers.
- 180×180 apple-touch-icon.png — used when iPhone and iPad users add your site to their home screen.
- 192×192 and 512×512 PNG — used by Android and Progressive Web Apps through the web manifest.
Favicons in Google search results
Google shows your favicon next to your site name in search results. To be eligible it should be square, at least 48×48 px, stable over time and linked from your homepage. A clear, recognisable icon helps your result stand out.
Frequently asked questions
What image works best for a favicon?
A simple, bold, square logo mark with little or no text — fine details disappear at 16×16 pixels. Non-square images are cropped from the centre.
Why isn’t my new favicon showing?
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Clear your cache or open the site in a private window, and check that the files are in your root folder with the HTML tags in place.
Do I still need favicon.ico if I have PNG icons?
It’s still recommended. Some browsers, tools and feed readers request /favicon.ico directly, so including it avoids 404 errors.
Is Favicon Generator free to use?
Yes — Favicon Generator is completely free with no signup, no limits and no hidden costs.
Is my data private and secure?
Everything runs entirely in your browser — your files and text never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
