About the Color Palette Extractor

Pull a ready-to-use color palette out of any photo, logo, screenshot or artwork. Upload an image and the tool finds its most dominant, distinct colors, showing each one’s HEX code, RGB value and share of the image — or click anywhere on the picture to pick the exact color of that pixel.

Copy individual codes or grab the whole palette as CSS variables for your website, brand guide or presentation. The image is analysed entirely in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use the Color Palette Extractor

  1. 1Upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP image.
  2. 2Choose how many colors you want in the palette.
  3. 3Click any point on the image to pick a specific color.
  4. 4Copy the HEX codes or the CSS variables for your project.

How the palette is extracted

The image is scaled down and every pixel is grouped into buckets of similar color. The most common buckets become palette candidates, and any color too close to one already chosen is skipped — so you get a varied palette instead of five shades of the same background.

Ways to use an extracted palette

A few popular uses:

  • Build a website color scheme that matches your hero photo or logo.
  • Create on-brand social media graphics and slides.
  • Match text and button colors to your product photography.
  • Find the exact HEX code of a color in a screenshot.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between HEX and RGB?

They describe the same color in different formats. HEX (#1a8fbf) is common in CSS and design tools; RGB (rgb(26, 143, 191)) lists the red, green and blue values from 0 to 255.

Why are transparent areas ignored?

Mostly transparent pixels in PNGs aren’t counted, so the palette reflects the visible artwork rather than an empty background.

Can I get more than 12 colors?

The palette focuses on up to 12 of the most distinct colors. For any other color, click on the image to pick it directly.

Is Color Palette Extractor free to use?

Yes — Color Palette Extractor is completely free with no signup, no limits and no hidden costs.

Is my data private and secure?

Everything runs entirely in your browser — your files and text never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
